Just wondering what you guys/girls think the traits of Western Dragons are. Like do you think they had Fur along their backs or spikes? Do you think they were intelligent? if so were they capable of speech?

Just wondering what you think...

i don't think they had fur. just scales and spikes. They were intelligent. Maybe enough to a degree. Like to work together or avoid fights or learn how to cure themselves and what to eat. But the ability of speaking. Yes maybe with their own kin. Not with humans and other animals besides western.

Yeah, I don't think that their vocal structure would have been compadable with our language...

Scales and spikes, no fur.
Four legs, wings.
Intelligent. Can communicate with their kin. can work and live in groups.

NeoN

LoL, strange how we all think the same.

I also think spikes not fur. Wings that resemble a bats, and are intelligent and could probably communicate with their own kin.

What other traits do you think they had?...

Dark Lady
11-16-2006, 03:25 PM
fire!
raaar! :D

NeoN
11-16-2006, 03:39 PM
Yeah, I think they had breath weapons. I think that maybe some of them could change the color of their scales like chamealeons...

Dark Lady
11-16-2006, 03:41 PM
Yeah, I think they had breath weapons....

like if they ate a cow...they could knock you out by stinkin you out with bad breath!
lol theres a teacher at school who can do that!

NeoN
11-16-2006, 03:46 PM
LoL, all the teachers at my school are pretty good with a few exceptions...

Yeah, I think they had breath weapons. I think that maybe some of them could change the color of their scales like chamealeons...

Fire and stuff like that... Maybe a corrosive acid for ceratin species...

NeoN
11-17-2006, 04:16 PM
Yeah, What do you think of the idea of scales that change colour.

I think they had it because a large animal would be very hard to hide so they would have to find some way of discuising themselves from their prey...

If you look closely at my profile pix, it has a blondish fur on the back.

NeoN
11-17-2006, 06:30 PM
Yeah, like a mane sort of thing. I think maybe thats what arctic dwelling dragons would have had...

I once read that dragons can understand human languages, but are unable to speak it. And I also read that they speak to humans through sensations, or telepathy.

NeoN
11-17-2006, 07:46 PM
Yeah I read that too. and I like to think its true...

Crimson Dragon13

I'd say they had scales, spikes, wings, legs, arrowhead tail, could talk and write....and could be good or evil....

Rez3
11-20-2006, 01:42 PM
Yeah... Thier actions determine the good/evil thing

[quote]

I am a follower of dragon genetics. I think Draco occidentalis magnus , or the European mountain dragon, evolved thick spines on the back but Draco orientalis , or the Asian lung, has a mane at the neck.

Dark Lady

the asian lung is made from the animals of the chinese zidiac.
the mane represents the lion and the imperial monarchy(sp) of china.

I like to think:
they are very smart
they can write
they have an undying love for music and peotry
And other things but these mostly

thatd look well cool!

I'm thinking the classics, horns, scales, fire breath, 4 legs, bat-like wings, I think that are are intelligent, can speak, and can work in groups but like their space.

NeoN
01-13-2007, 02:53 AM
Yeah, I would agree that they are more solitary than group oriented...

Ramoth
01-13-2007, 09:17 PM
Yeah I guess what E Drago Pazzo sound about right, but I like the hair along the spines. I agree with Happyslashes on that it looks cool. :D

NeoN
01-13-2007, 11:02 PM
LoL, well nature does evolve in ways that have no purpose but to look cool, just look at the Peacock...

Rez3
01-14-2007, 01:19 PM
Lol. I guess you're right. They only have such big feathers to attract females. :D

NeoN
01-14-2007, 07:33 PM
Yeah, coz the females think it looks cool :P ...

DragonSummoner
01-14-2007, 09:45 PM
and like them for that. the bigger and the more color their feathers have the more they are attracted to them.

Dark Lady
01-15-2007, 01:31 AM
O.O....sparkly....
ahem!
seriously, what the hell?

NeoN
01-15-2007, 03:44 AM
But it does seem like an aweful amount of effort just to reproduce....

Rez3
01-15-2007, 10:46 AM
What about humans when they spend AGES styling their hair and washing their face etc just to go on a date? That's pretty similar, except with peacocks it's built in. :D

NeoN
01-18-2007, 03:34 AM
Yeah, and they go out and spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars on nice things for their companions, when that money could have been better spent...

Dark Lady
01-18-2007, 03:36 AM
he he.
i spend up to £5.
GO THE BARGIN BOX!
oh thats a shop by the way :)

heh well that was an interesting read.

NeoN
01-18-2007, 04:28 PM
Yeah, I might have said this before, but I don't believe in magic or anything like that. I think maybe dragons could use telepathy to read eachothers emotions but no more than that...

Shiori

I do bel;eive the Western Dragons are the classical type. But maybe not as huge as being lead to beleive. Also what if some could change their form to better blend in.

Black Forbearance
08-17-2007, 12:41 AM
I dont believe that a dragon would be big enough to swallow a person whole, but they would be big enough to carry a person on their backs and still be able to fly.

You know it's funny you say that, because a lot of the images we see in pictures and drawings and movies and such are depicted with the dragon having wings too small to carry itself, let alone a human. I mean, if you are one to discredit magic, scientifically their wingspan would have to be one and a half times their body length and decently wide to boot for them to propel their heavy, muscular bodies into the air.

Haha, I don't mean to sound like a prick, but that's the evidence.

Shiori
08-17-2007, 04:33 AM
Thats why i do not beleive my kind anyway are huge like they beleive. they need the size and wingsspan and weight to be carried. If they were as big say as a t rex unless by some sort of magick, They would not fly.

Black Forbearance
08-17-2007, 09:44 PM
well, I'm not saying bigger dragons cannot fly. I was just pointing out that most dragons are depicted with smaller wings than science would allow the to fly with. I think there may have been, or still are, dragons the size of small buildings, but their wings are insanely large and long.

Koro
08-21-2007, 11:07 AM
well technically bees defy science.

(lol like some dragons)

Shiori
08-21-2007, 03:40 PM
right. That is why I beleive that Dragons are not "huge" like a t rex maybe to me a Utahraptor size would be good with large and strong enough wings. When I am in "dragon form" if you will I am not huge. And my wings are maybe each maybe 13 or 14 feet long each wing. I am just guessing I am no pro at this. Also Dragons do need very strong musckles. But Dragons I beleive are not bulcky.

philosopher
08-22-2007, 11:10 PM
Any large creature needs strong muscles...and some of us Euro's like me have tail spades. Oh and a basic fact, males have short, wide spades, females have long, thin spades.

Black Forbearance
08-23-2007, 01:47 AM
Haha, I'm no biologist, but I'm sure there is a reason bees can fly with such large bodies. Lack of muscle density perhaps. Anyway, certain dragons can fly even with humongous bodies, and some dragons, like certain asian dragons, can fly without wings. haha

Shiori
08-23-2007, 04:24 AM
yes I knowticed on my own "tail" iof you will. and Male Dragons I thin k are also bigger then females like me also. *blushes*

NeoN
08-23-2007, 05:36 AM
There is a scalability issue with flight, if you scaled a bee up 2 fold it wouldn't be able to fly as well. Its the same with dragons and large aircraft, its why crop dusters have such small wing to body ratios when compared with jet liners and stuff...
