I have had many dreams about Dragons two of them were about Chinese Dragons and in both of those dreams they were flying. So, yes I believe they can fly.
They are like elemetal dragons. So maybe they draw upon the power of the elements to fly.

Yes i think ramoth is right about the dragons being elemental and being able to fly using the elements of the earth.

true, just think of how a snake glides through the grass, kind of the same concept but they glide through the elements in the air because Id say they are connected to those elements thus they enteract with them differently than other dragons so they can manipulate it and fly, in my poinion

I think they can fly, as for the wings it orderpends on what type of breed the dragon is really some chinese dragons have wings some dont.
Im actually reading a dragon book which has a chinese dragon in it which has wings, this book also tells me that there are different kinds of breeds for a chinese dragon.
It's a good book. :D

I dont believe they have wings and I've never seen one with them but as for flying? i've seen many special documentaries and the one i believe most that i will most likely believe the rest of me life is that dragons have a special organ next to their lungs thats carries gases such as helium or whatever else is lighter than air. they inflate that and fill it up so that their body weight is lighter and they can lift themselves using wings....as for chinese, probably the exact same thing only they use more than a dragon with wings...

I've only seen one picture with them having wings, it wouldn't have been able to fly with them. They weren't big enough, they were medium sized, making them to small. As for them flying with something lighter than air in their lungs, I'm not sure what to think. Maybe they have a large chamber to store it in to help them fly.

I guess you'd have had to seen the documentary..it was pretty neat and perfectly thought through. every little detail was almost perfect...how they flew with such heavy bodies, how they breathed fire, how they hunted, how they lived in their environment, how they grew up without dying....it was amazing...if its ever on again i'll be sure to say something

I'm thinking traditional Chinese dragons don't have wings, but I have seen a few depictions of them with wings and plenty without.

Crimson Dragon13

I don't get why chinese dragons would need wings if the can fly without them.

Orealisk

possibly a cross bread? it can happen..
chinese dragon + winged dragon = a chinese with wings

Crimson Dragon13

I guess so, that makes sense.

Yeah, I guess that could work.
I've seen some pictures of Chinese Dragons and none of them have wings. Some show them flying however, probably using magic...

We may never know how they fly.

the chinese dragon...a part of the eastern mythology.
A crossing of rabbit, snake, lion, tiger, dog... and the most animals of the chinese horoscope.
No, chinese dragons don't have wings, becose there isn't a crossing between an animal with wings.

no... chineese dragons dont have wings.. usually... but there have been some drawings where they have wings... they might have been crossed with western dragons....

I guess that's possible. But pure Eastern/Chinese Dragons don't have wings. I haven't seen any pictures of Easterns with wings.

Well, they may or may not fly, the may or may not have wings...who knows? To find out we should just interview one...

im not sure if they fly and i dont think they have wings but my book tells me that they bont need to fly because of danger or to cach their food because of their speed and mental powers...as in martial arts and stuff its to do with mind over matter.
here is a passage about the Chinese Lung
Quote (...therefore the chinese Lung does not need to fly due to its mental abilities to dissapear and reappear. The orb of wisdom it carries is thought to aid it in such actions. The orb is thought to hold the wisdon of the univesre and is able to grant the Lung superior magical knawlage that it passed on to early, purer, humans and also younger breeds of Dragon.)
end quote.
well thats my mind made up! but im always open to sugestions!

What if there was another creature that could see it? I heard they can teleport.

Dark Lady
11-06-2006, 01:56 PM
they probly could teleport.
i doubt that anything else could see it because the orb holds one of the most powerfull sorces of magic there is.
did you know...apparently if a lungs ball smashes somehow it will be turmed into a human and looses all its abilities and knalage1
acording to chinese folk law...

Crimson Dragon13

I figured out that they teleported and had psychic powers cause my cuz told me. He said a baby Asain lung came into his room and said it will tell him one thing it knows if he asks it the question. He asked what are your powers> "I have psychic powers," it said. And I'm like are you sure you weren't dreaming? He said he was awake....so he must've been day dreaming.

it holds magic, dragon knawlage...its sacred.
so yup.

DragonSummoner

maybe the ability to fly.....do you think that the orb could of holded their life?

Dark Lady
11-11-2006, 06:53 PM
'Held' their life......and no.
i dont think so.
their life is their own.the orb is a bit like a laptop computer.
it holds knawlage and secrets and all sorts of stuff.
yet if we drop it we dont die.....(unless we get impaled no the debris)

like i said, the chinese believed that if it was broken then the dragon would be damned to being a human for the rest of its life.
a fitting punnishment for loosing the most sacred thing beheld by lung dragons.
many believe that some of the emperors of china were once dragons....
thats why the royal standard of china has a dragon on it.
so ive read.

I think that Chinese dragons can fly with their magic but do not have wings. I have also read that they cannot actually "fly" but can jump and glide and wind their way through the air using their fins and snakelike body. Their orb is their egg which they protect with their life and keep away from five-coloured silk, which is dangerous for lung.

I don't know if an Asian and a European dragon could mate... I have heard them called different species which suggests that they cannot, but maybe they are like dog with different breeds. Theoretically, all dogs are the same species and should be able to produce offspring, but I don't know if that would work with, say, a great dane and a lapdog. But dogs have been bred with years of artificial selection by humans, and to argue that dragons just have different breeds you would have to rely on natural separation and isolation to explain the very different kinds.

yas ive read in that Dr Drakes book that its an egg they carry but thats not true.
you see the chinese lung is a dragon made from the zodiac creatures to symbolize all powerful wisdom.
the dragon was created by humans to represent the emporors wisdom and that that was his form, an all wise dragon.
the egg would be true if the chinese dragon was an actual creature.
but the chinese say it is a mythical creature. all wise and spiritual not exactly real....BUT HECK! REAL OR NOT I LOVE 'EM! :D

That's a Chinese symbolistic belief, It makes sence to me that it's an egg.

As much as i know, they don't have wings, or have very small ones, but they can't fly using them.

I like Japanese medieval stuff a lot, so i like eastern dragons as well :D

The appearance is that of 9 animals, I've heard a legend that it was gifted from the 9 animals that seems to make up its body.

I dont think the orb and the egg are the same thing. The shape of the orb is a perfect spear which shape is easyly broken and would be hard to give birth to for there body shape. There eggs would most likely have to be like snake eggs long in shape and have a leatherly shell unlike the pearl-like shell of the orb. As for flying I dont think so I have read that the dragons could grow to great size they would most likely live better near water like a large river or an ocean. This way it would also be easyer to protect there orbs in the water.

Well I saw a custume (ya know with whole buncha people inside of it, it can blink and talk and all that jazz.) of one in the Chinese New year Celebration type thing on tv once.
And it didn't have wings.
From what I remember.
So I asume they don't.

Whell lets see.... This is what i know about Chinease dragons or "Asian lung" as they are also called....There are diffenrent types of dragons... or they have different elements..... there are water sky/cloud earth and water... and there are some other variations of spirital types.... I dont know much about those but I've seen some history on them..... They dont have wings but they do fly... The fire and cloud type lung are obvious able to sway with the wind and simply "swim" through the air... but I'm not quite shure on the earth and water ones... theugh they too aparently are able to "swim through the air".... Yes its magic i guess..... but then agein... There are others that say that they cant fly.... and that there actually only are one spicie which are able to control wind and water but it can't fly... its just a myth... though all of it is myth ^^.... the earth and fire might come from other spicies that might have gone far from they'r normal living areas.... The tibetian dragon is red and looks a lot like the asian lugs... which might have led to the fire theory.... thats pretty much what i got.....
